Why Should I Take a Flu Shot?
- Influenza (flu) is a serious viral disease that spreads through nose and throat membranes. Each winter Influenza causes many people to suffer with symptoms that may persist for two or more weeks. In some persons, influenza can exacerbate underlying medical conditions such as lung and heart disease or it may lead to viral pneumonia.
- According to U.S. Public Health's Center for Disease Control, influenza is responsible for approximately 20,000 deaths and 110,000 hospitalizations per year in the U.S.

When Should I Take a Flu Shot?
- A new vaccine is developed each year and is only effective for the current flu season. Manufacturers advise that the vaccine should be released in September and administered late September through January. "Flu Season" is usually November through March in our area.
- CMC’s Health & Wellness Programs will be offering flu shots at a date and time convenient for your employees (members).
- The center for Disease Control recommends that all providers begin their clinic schedule by vaccinating nursing home residents, persons age 65 and older, and those under 65 who are medically high risk.
Where Can I Get the Flu Shot?
- Wilson Pharmacy offers on-site clinics at its retail locations for the public.
- Available dates and times will be posted at these sites.
