In 1999 Wilson Pharmacy established a special division called Clinical Management Concepts or CMC that is devoted to helping employers manage their health benefit plans. This division’s products are totally separate from the other Wilson Pharmacy divisions in that CMC’s mission is to use pharmacy knowledge to reduce or eliminate inappropriate or unnecessary medications that most employer health plans pay for. The Right Drug for the Right Reason for the Right Person is the motto.
Clinical Management Concepts provides Pharmacy Benefit Management services to employers searching for ways to reduce prescription drug costs along with health care costs. This team of pharmacists performs clinical Drug Utilization Reviews (DUR) and makes clinical interventions to reduce utilization, save cost, and improve the patient’s quality of life. CMC looks at the group’s prescription medication utilization on an individual basis and a clinical pharmacist collaborates directly with the patient’s physician when potential problems are spotted. This is accomplished by promoting Disease Management, Health & Wellness, and other related programs that assist employers in achieving the best financial and clinical outcomes as well as improved employee productivity.
